Why is it significant that Inauguration Day happened on Martin Luther King Day?

Today is a big day for America. Not only was it Martin Luther King day but it was also the second inauguration of Barack Obama as president of the United States. Why is it significant that Inauguration Day happened on Martin Luther King Day?

On the day we remember the importance of racial reconciliation in our country, President Obama was sworn in with his hand on the Bible of the man who catalyzed the movement, Martin Luther King Jr. Regardless of your politics, that is a significant symbol for American unity.
